The Arizona Cardinals look for their first win of the young 2019 NFL season on Sunday

They’ve had their chances over the first two weeks but for the Arizona Cardinals no chance may be greater than the one in front of them.  The 0-2 Carolina Panthers visit State Farm Stadium on Sunday.

The Cardinals are coming off a tough loss at Baltimore where they kept themselves in the game with chances to pull out a road victory late.  It didn’t happen and now sit at 0-0-1.

However their opponent has had a couple of tough games to open up the 2019 season as well.  The Panthers lost on opening day 30-27 to the Los Angeles Rams.

They also lost last Thursday night to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20-14.  That may be the one positive for the Panthers, coming into this one with a 10-day rest.  However there are three reasons the Cardinals have a great chance at winning this one.

So close

The Cardinals didn’t really get going in week one until the fourth quarter.  Last week it took them a little while to get things going as well.

The real issue was not being able to convert drives into touchdowns.  They had to settle for field goals three times getting inside Baltimore’s 5-yard line. Just scoring touchdowns on two of those drives would have netted a victory for the Cardinals.
