The Arizona Cardinals host the Carolina Panthers as both teams look for their first victory of the 2019 season

The Arizona Cardinals and the Carolina Panthers are both oh so close to 2-0.  However one is 0-1-1 and the other is 0-2.  Both teams need a win on Sunday to avoid pretty much being eliminated for any postseason talk in 2019.

The Cardinals are coming off a 23-17 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.  They had their chances to grab victory once again but a fourth quarter meltdown changed that.

The Panthers lost 20-14 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Thursday night.  So, they’ve had some rest but are also nursing some injuries.

The teams last met in the regular season in 2016 in Carolina with the Panthers coming out on top 30-20.  This followed the 2015 NFC Championship game in January 2016 with a 49-15 loss in Charlotte. Sunday will be the first visit to Glendale by the Panthers since 2013.

What: Carolina Panthers at Arizona Cardinals

Where: State Farm Stadium

When: Sunday September 22 1:05 p.m.

TV: Fox 10 (Dan Hellie, Brady Quinn)

Radio: 98.7 Arizona Sports (Dave Pasch, Ron Wolfley)

Key matchup: The Cardinals defense against Carolina backup quarterback Kyle Allen.  Allen will start in place of the injured Cam Newton.

Allen played in two games in 2018, starting one.  He was 20-31-266 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions last season.

The other matchup to watch for is Panthers tight end Greg Olsen against the Cardinals defense.  However judging on the first two weeks, it might not be much fun to watch.  The Cardinals so far are worst in the NFL defending tight ends over the first two weeks.
