The Arizona Cardinals still have 7 games left in the 2019 season but this team could be prepared to make some noise in 2020 and beyond

If Thursday night’s close 28-25 loss to the San Francisco 49ers didn’t convince you the Arizona Cardinals have made huge improvements over 2018, I don’t know what to tell you?  That said, in order to compete in 2020, there are some things the Cardinals will need to do to make that happen.

Specifically there are 5 moves the Cardinals should make that will help them win games they could have this year, games like this past Thursday night against the 49ers.  Sure, there are a lot of things they can do, but these 5 are a good start.

Cornerback

While we are not ready like some fans are to turn their backs on Patrick Peterson, it is a situation that needs to be addressed whether Peterson is in Arizona or not in 2020.

Peterson will be in the final year of his contract.  His performance on Thursday night may have been one of his worst since being drafted in 2011.  Some believe it could be because he wants out of Arizona.

If that’s the case, the Cardinals need to make that happen.  They may not get the value in return they once could have, but whether he’s public about it or not, he either needs to perform or Cardinals need to rid of him.

It could have been a conditioning situation as well, not being football ready after his 6-week suspension.  Either way, if Peterson is here or not, they need more than just Byron Murphy Jr to compliment that spot.
