While difficult to assess actual numbers, Arizona Cardinals fans seemed to be outnumbered on Thursday night

So many reasons could be given as an excuse as to why it seemed there were a lot more San Francisco 49ers fans than Arizona Cardinals fans at State Farm Stadium on Thursday night. The Cardinals lost to the 49ers 28-25.

You could tell long before the game started what kind of night it would be, at least as far as to what it would sound and look like in the seats.  It all started at the tailgate.

While sitting out in the parking lot at State Farm Stadium, there were so many groups of 49ers fans.  Many of these vehicles had California license plates.

A couple of the vehicles appeared to have luggage in the back seat, like they just arrived from California for this matchup.  Oh, sure there were Cardinals fans but there were a lot of 49ers fans.

Some were from the local area, well, at least had Arizona plates.  As a native and long time Cardinals fan, it is a difficult pill to swallow.  It also makes me wonder where were these scores of fans the last few years?

However, there were some factors that likely lead to fewer Cardinals fans on Thursday night.  Right there, it was Thursday.  Traffic to get out to Glendale from the east valley can be crazy in rush hour.

Then there was the Halloween factor.  Not a good mix to have a Thursday game and Halloween all at the same time.  One friend said he couldn’t get off work early enough to get to that side of town and he’s a diehard.

Certainly a lot of Cardinals fans though ended up selling their tickets to 49ers fans.  Some probably didn’t know they were selling to 49ers fans but had to know that could be a possibility.

In the end it was just disheartening.  There were 49ers fans to my right, to my left, in front of me and behind me.  Two 49ers fans got in a scuffle three rows behind me, a third had to break it up.  If not in numbers, they certainly had a louder voice and made more noise.

During the national anthem, a guy in a Colin Kaepernick jersey didn’t take his hat off.  It was disrespectful but what are you going to do?

Next. 5 moves the Cardinals need to make in offseason. dark

There are a lot of good 49ers fans but it was just sad to see.  If the Cardinals were 5-3 or 6-2 heading in, makes you wonder what kind of balance in the crowd we would have seen?
