Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald is not getting the ball as much as fans would like to see
He started out pretty hot but lately the Arizona Cardinals have gone away from feeding receiver Larry Fitzgerald the ball. That is not necessarily anyone’s fault in particular.
You could find blame with quarterback Kyler Murray. You could find fault in the play call from coach Kliff Kingsbury. You could even find some fault from Fitz himself.
Fitz did have the almost touchdown catch against the New Orleans Saints, except he stepped out of bounds, just one foot in. That’s just football though.
In the last 3 games, Fitz has just 7 receptions on 11 total targets. Is Murray not looking for him? He is getting attention from the opposing defenses.
The New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers both have really good defenses. He did get 4 receptions for 38-yards against the 49ers, including a 20-yard reception.
He was left with 2 receptions against the Saints and just a lone reception against the New York Giants. However that Giants game no one was getting the ball due to the weather and a commitment to the run game with Chase Edmonds.
Through 9 games he has 42 receptions. He had 35 receptions through the first 6 games. There was an effort to get him the ball.
This is also a by-product of trying to get the others involved as well. KeeSean Johnson and Andy Isabella haven’t been as involved either but they each got their first touchdown receptions of the season on Thursday as well.
We just don’t know how much more of Fitz we are going to see, if at all, after these last 7 games. It would behoove the Cardinals to find Fitz as much as possible.
That said, Fitz will never complain about not getting the ball. This isn’t a complaint either just more of an observation that if the Cardinals get Fitz the ball, good things typically happen.
