The Arizona Cardinals host the Cleveland Browns on Sunday at State Farm Stadium

We’ve talked about the anticipated quarterback matchup this week between the Arizona Cardinals Kyler Murray and the Cleveland Browns Baker Mayfield.  It was highly anticipated when the schedule came out.

Now both of their teams are just trying to finish out the season with failed expectations.  The Cardinals weren’t expected to contend but they have clearly shown, at least on offense, they should have more than 3 victories at this point.

As for the Browns, they come in limping at 6-7.  They are technically still in the playoff hunt but all realistic chances are gone.

Both teams have coaches that could not make it past this season, both in their first seasons with their respective teams, the Cardinals Kliff Kingsbury and the Browns Freddie Kitchens.  Right now, it looks as if maybe Kingsbury survives one more season but a loss today to the Cardinals could cement the fate of Kitchens.

The Cardinals are just 1-5-1 at home this season.  A win today certainly wouldn’t make us forget the rest of the opportunities blown this season for them but it can leave fans going home with a better taste in their mouths.

The Cardinals will be playing without linebacker Terrell Suggs for the first time this season.  He was released on Friday.  Look for a lot more Haason Reddick against the Browns.

With the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams ahead over the last two weeks of the season on the road, this may be the last good chance for a win for the Cardinals.  Murray will once again have all of his weapons at his disposal.

The Cardinals running game has been pretty much non-existent since Chase Edmonds returned.  Kenyan Drake and David Johnson haven’t produced much.

Next. Cardinals and Suggs go separate ways. dark

As for the Browns, they still have a playoff spot to fight for, at least this week anyway.  They have explosive receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry.  With the way the Cardinals defense has played this season, it could be a long afternoon once again for the boys in red and white.
