The Arizona Cardinals elevated quarterback Drew Anderson on Saturday

As much as we would all like Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray to start Sunday’s game at the Los Angeles Rams, we also doesn’t want to see him further his hamstring injury.  A move made by the team on Saturday suggests Murray may sit on Sunday.

The Cardinals elevated quarterback Drew Anderson from the practice squad on Sunday.  Murray suffered a hamstring injury against the Seattle Seahawks last Sunday.

Backup Brett Hundley finished up the game and played well.  That too could be coming into play in making a decision whether to sit Murray or not.

Anderson was with the team in the preseason and played fairly well at times.  Anderson, out of Murray State, was a bubble player coming out of training camp.  The only decision to make there was would the Cardinals keep three quarterbacks or just two?

Now it appears as if Anderson will be the backup on Sunday, although no official announcement was made by the team despite the announcement of the promotion to the active roster.  Murray is officially listed as questionable against the Rams.

To make room for Anderson on the 53-man roster, the Cardinals placed tight end Darrell Daniels on injured reserve.  That move has little impact since he had already been ruled out for the season finale.

The Cardinals also have tight end Charles Clay listed as questionable on Sunday.  The Cardinals likely will go with Maxx Williams and Dan Arnold at tight end against the Rams.

It would be nice to see if the Cardinals are able to make it a game against the Rams with Hundley playing.  It would not be surprising to see the Cardinals insert Anderson into the game if it gets out of hand, much like the game in Glendale against the Rams did back on December 1st.
