The Arizona Cardinals (5-9-1) finish their season Sunday at the Los Angeles Rams (8-7)

Not only are the Arizona Cardinals in Los Angeles to play their last game of the 2019 season but some players may be seeing their last game with the team.  One guy immediately comes to mind in receiver Larry Fitzgerald.

The feeling around here is Fitz will not being playing his last game of his career.  He does this every year and some years it feels like he could be hanging it up.  However, there is good reason to believe he will decide to return for his 17th season.

He will turn 37 just before the start of the 2020 season.  He has had a decent 2019 season with 71 receptions for 759-yards and 4 touchdowns.  He had another touchdown taken away from him last week against the Seattle Seahawks.

We expect a decision sometime in January as to his intentions for next year.  It would be fun to see what he can do with Murray in his second season.

Other players that could be saying farewell are center A.Q. Shipley, cornerback Patrick Peterson, running back David Johnson, and tackle D.J. Humphries.  Some or all of them could return but Humphries seems to have the best chance of that group.

The receiver core hasn’t been awful but not as good as we thought they would be.  Pharoh Cooper, Damiere Byrd, Andy Isabella, Keesean Johnson all will be looked at closely in the offseason.  Cooper is likely gone but Byrd was a nice pickup that deserves another shot in 2020.  The rookies will definitely be in camp but both had disappointing rookie campaign’s.

What the Cardinals do at cornerback will be something to watch.  Do they bring back Robert Alford, who never got a chance to play in 2019 due to injury? What about Chris Jones?

The Cardinals seem set at tight end.  Charles Clay and Maxx Williams have held the position down pretty well and could also keep Dan Arnold around in the mix.
