With Larry Fitzgerald’s future still undetermined, the Arizona Cardinals could look to add an experienced wideout this offseason

Another offseason has arrived, and the Arizona Cardinals are once again waiting on Larry Fitzgerald. The legendary wide receiver needs to decide if he wants to return for another campaign or not. Cards head coach Kliff Kingsbury has indicated that the club wants the future Hall of Famer to play in 2020, but Fitzgerald has yet to reveal his plans.

At the present time, the 36-year old Fitzgerald is the only Arizona wideout with a wealth of experience. In fact, the rest of the squad’s pass-catchers that are under contract are all in their early 20’s. Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray would certainly benefit from having a veteran around to catch his passes and lead the youngsters, especially if Fitzgerald calls it quits.

A.J. Green, the long-time Cincinnati Bengal, is scheduled to become a free agent in March. The 31-year old has had an outstanding pro career, and would be an excellent addition to the Cards locker room. Green will be looking to bounce back next fall after missing all of 2019 with torn ligaments in his ankle.

Emmanuel Sanders was traded to the San Francisco 49ers back in October, but his contract is about to expire. The 32-year old has racked up 576 receptions, 7,528 receiving yards and 42 touchdowns since he entered the NFL back in 2010. Sanders has added a spark to the 49ers offense since his arrival, and would likely do the same for Arizona as well.

Randall Cobb spent the past season with the Dallas Cowboys, after spending his first eight campaigns with the Green Bay Packers. The 29-year old can still be effective, as evidenced by the 55 catches, 828 receiving yards and three scores he posted in ’19. The Cowboys may have to pay Amari Cooper big bucks this offseason, so Cobb will likely have to look elsewhere for a lucrative deal of his own.

Next. Kyler Murray deserves Rookie award. dark

One more free agent possibility worth mentioning for the Cardinals is Danny Amendola. The 34-year old, who spent this past year with the Detroit Lions, would appear to be a perfect fit for Kingsbury’s “Air Raid” offense. Amendola has totaled 547 receptions, 5,362 yards and 21 touchdowns for four different teams since he entered the league back in 2009.
