At number 8, the Arizona Cardinals are likely going to have a bargaining chip should they decide they can’t find someone they want in the draft

Some Arizona Cardinals fans want one of the top receivers in the 2020 NFL Draft.  Some would like to see them grab a linebacker or defensive lineman.

One thing that may help them would be using the pick as trade bait.  There are a number of teams that could be looking to improve their quarterback or receiver situations as well.

Do the Cardinals need a receiver in the upcoming draft?  Not necessarily.  However grabbing a CeeDee Lamb or Jerry Jeudy isn’t going to hurt anyone’s feelings.  Is that the best choice for the Cardinals to make though?

They could use that pick to either grab multiple picks in the current draft.  Or better yet, what about improving the offensive line?

The offensive line had worse years than 2019 but it certainly could use some replacements and most definitely more depth.  There is uncertainty whether the Cardinals will keep guys like center A.Q. Shipley or D.J. Humphries.

Having the 8th pick in the draft isn’t necessarily a bad thing.  Not this year anyway.  Georgia tackle Andrew Thomas would look good in Cardinal Red as well, so maybe the Cardinals get their offensive lineman through the draft?

They may have to move up a couple of spots to get Thomas if they want him so the more likely option would be if they want to upgrade, is trade the pick for possibly an offensive lineman?  Of course that might all be moot by then if they decide to upgrade in free agency.

Next. Wade Phillips would mend Cardinals defense. dark

However, free agency didn’t do them many favors when it came to the offensive line in 2019.  Max Garcia and J.R. Sweezy didn’t quite pan out for the Cardinals last season.
