Grading Arizona Cardinals new league year moves
By Scott Allen
Jordan Phillips
Grade: B+
Some liked the move, many nationally this did nothing for them. As for Cardinals fans, for the most part they liked the move.
Phillips moves over from the Buffalo Bills. He is coming off a career year with the Bills in which he had 9.5 sacks. That was by far his most in any single season since coming into the league out of Oklahoma in 2015.
His previous high for sack totals was in both 2015 and 2017 with 2 when he was with his original team in the Miami Dolphins. Clearly he is on a uptrend. Let’s just hope it is isn’t a one-year wonder.
Phillips is listed at 6’6, 341. That is good size and should immediately rank the Cardinals pass rush higher in 2020. He will replace Rodney Gunter who left in free agency for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Gunter had 3 sacks in 2019 and stands at 6’5, 305. The Phillips addition is an upgrade and a number of fans liked Gunter.
