Arizona Cardinals: How the NFC West could shake out in 2020
By Steve Rivera
For fans in Arizona, the Cardinals look to be a team finally able to make that push to .500 and better. While both the Seahawks and 49ers remain the class of the division, Arizona will have the firepower to make more than noise.
Second-year quarterback Kyler Murray will have some opportunities to improve his game that will also help his team. While he was sacked a lot, many of those takedowns were the result of not having better field awareness. In 2020, he will. Plus, the addition of DeAndre Hopkins is the kind of add-on that brings a ton of instant payoff. He’s the type of receiver that changes the game with his ability to make big plays nearly on demand.
It’s also a big second season for Kliff Kingsbury. Kingsbury, who had the appearance of being in over his head early on, adjusted, and had his team in a lot of games that he will win this season.
Year two in the desert will see some payoff for an organization that made a monster move in free agency and has perhaps one of the best athletes in football playing quarterback. As promising as Murray looked last season, 2020 has the opportunity to completely open up for the sophomore quarterback.
The Arizona Cardinals aren’t ready to challenge for the division, but they will be formidable. They also won’t finish last in the NFC West.
