Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray was planning a player workout in Oklahoma

Earlier this week it was made known that Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray was planning a get together him and about 20 teammates in Oklahoma.  There was no mandate against it.

Murray was taking care of all expenses, room and board and travel.  Reportedly the outing was going to cost him close to $40,000.

Everyone was excited to see Murray stepping up and taking the initiative to get his teammates together to workout.  It was not team sanctioned but there was also nothing the team could do from keeping it happening either.

Now, the NFLPA medical director, Dr. Thom Mayer put out a statement on Saturday asking players not to organize any workouts with one another due to the increase in Covid-19 cases.  In the same statement he also advised against any team organized joint practices, however that already seemed like a forgone conclusion as the NFL was not going to allow it.

So now what does Murray do?  Does he do the right thing and cancel the workouts?  It may be difficult to cancel whatever he’s set up without losing money on it, we just don’t know.

However it would see like the right thing to do in these circumstances.  If the players want any chance to have a season, they should be doing everything possible to mitigate catching the virus.

Yes, it would be a set back for the group of players.  There are some new faces, some familiar faces on the roster, mainly a chance to see Murray get to work with his receivers.

There has been zero on the field time with each other since the 2019 season ended.  As much as the Cardinals need work with one another, the most important thing is to do everything to stay healthy, whether there is a 2020 season starting on time, 2020 season delayed, or no season at all.
