COVID-19 has hit the Arizona Cardinals with their owner testing positive for the widespread disease

It was only a matter of time before a big name from the Arizona Cardinals would test positive for COVID-19.  It turns out it was not a player but owner Michael Bidwill.

According to arizonasports.com, it is believed he contracted the disease traveling back east.  There has been no contact with players or coaches.

Right now with as much movement we are seeing with schedules in other sports, most recently college football, it is becoming increasingly difficult to see a clear path to start NFL training camp and/or the regular season on time.

The story says that Bidwill is in the hospital but should be released as soon as this weekend.  That’s very good news to hear but it still hits close.

The fact that Bidwill was traveling back east should also be a concern.  If teams are going to be traveling, this just further exacerbates the concerns that we are going to have players testing positive often.

The Cardinals have four east coast trips this season.  They play at the New York Giants, New York Jets, Carolina Panthers, and New England Patriots.

Travel all together could be interesting but having that many trips back east during this pandemic is concerning.  Right now, no one from Arizona is allowed to travel to New York or Connecticut without being self-quarantined for 14 days after arrival.

Knowing we don’t have specifics on where Bidwill traveled back east, he caught it there and this is one of the very reasons why the current travel restrictions are in place.  Bidwill was likely already taking all the precautions and yet he still got it.

Now imagine taking a travel party of 70-75 to one of these road games.  Right now, its best advised to not chance it.

We wish all the best to Michael and hope for a speedy, full recovery soon.  To everyone else, please continue to do all you can to protect yourselves.
