The Arizona Cardinals offense did enough on Sunday to come away with the victory

For awhile, it looked like the Arizona Cardinals would run away with the game.  Then slowly but surely, the Washington Football Team tried to crawl back into the game.

The Cardinals defense made enough plays and the offense kept it’s roll thanks to quarterback Kyler Murray‘s feet and came with away with a win.  It takes the Cardinals to 2-0 for the first time since 2015.

The Cardinals jumped out to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter.  However the offense stumbled a bit in the second quarter, resulting in just two Zane Gonzalez field goals.

As for Washington, they just couldn’t get on track in the first half despite some potentially costly Cardinals penalties.  In all the Cardinals had 11 penalties for 97-yards.

The second half, the Cardinals defense we were used to seeing over the past couple of years reared its ugly head.  They had a hard time tackling and left some receivers open for big plays.

Washington was able to turn a 20-0 halftime deficit to within 12 at 27-15 in the fourth quarter.  They failed on both of their two-point conversion requests.

All that said, the Cardinals should be thankful for Murray and his ability to scramble.  He scored a touchdown on the ground and threw a touchdown to be the first Cardinals quarterback since Jim hart in 1969 to do that.  In all, he had two rushing touchdowns.

It is much easier to come off a win and work on things.  The Cardinals definitely have things to work on going into the home game against the Detroit Lions next week at State Farm Stadium. The Lions will come in 0-2 against the Cardinals next week.

Next. Cardinals 3 keys to victory. dark

Murray had just the one turnover to Washington’s two.  They also left Sunday’s game relatively healthy, something a number of teams could not say after play in week two. On to Detroit.
