The Arizona Cardinals don’t have the luxury of facing any pushovers in a division that’s as ultra-competitive as the NFC West

After four consecutive campaigns without a playoff appearance, it appears that the Arizona Cardinals are ready to end that drought. Consecutive victories over the San Francisco 49ers and the Washington football team have generated genuine excitement among the franchise’s fans. A trip to the postseason, and possibly a whole lot more, is now a realistic goal for a Cards squad that appears poised to make some noise this season.

The biggest obstacle standing in front of the Cardinals is the division that they reside in. The NFC West, from top to bottom, is unquestionably the most competitive grouping that the National Football League has to offer. The six games that Arizona will play against their division rivals will be the toughest matchups the squad will face on their 2020 schedule.

Not surprisingly, the Seattle Seahawks will once again be the most difficult foe to deal with. Head coach Pete Carroll’s group topped the Atlanta Falcons by a score of 38-25 in week one, and earned a 35-30 victory over the New England Patriots this past weekend. No disrespect to Kyler Murray, but Seattle’s Russell Wilson could very well be the best quarterback in pro football.

The Los Angeles Rams could also present problems for the Cards this coming fall. Sean McVay’s bunch beat the Dallas Cowboys 20-17 in the season-opener, and took it to the Philadelphia Eagles by a score of 37-19 this past Sunday. Arizona has dropped six straight matchups to the Rams by a combined score of 195-56.

Topping off the division is the NFC champion San Francisco 49ers, who fell to the Cardinals by a score of 24-20 on opening day. Kyle Shanahan’s team has already been ravaged by injuries, just two weeks into the current campaign. The biggest loss for the 49ers is second-year defensive end Nick Bosa, who suffered a torn ACL during last weekend’s 31-13 win over the New York Jets.

A difficult road lies ahead for this year’s version of the Cards. The NFC West is the most talented that it’s been in years. Fortunately, the Arizona roster appears to be well-equipped to deal with such ferocious competition.
