The Arizona Cardinals were moved to Sunday Night Football this week as part of a necessary schedule change

Technically, sure we can say the Arizona Cardinals were flexed into Sunday Night Football this week in their home game against the Seattle Seahawks.  The move was made Thursday afternoon.

The move was made out of necessity because of the uncertainty surrounding the status of the Las Vegas Raiders.  The Raiders are scheduled to host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

However that was the scheduled Sunday Night Football game.  It was re-scheduled to the afternoon due to COVID-19 concerns with their players.  They have two confirmed cases so far.

It made sense to switch them out in case the game had to be moved out of Sunday into Monday or Tuesday.  The league did not want to be left empty on Sunday night.

So, they had a couple of good choices to pick from.  With the Arizona Cardinals and their early season success starting out 4-2 over the first six weeks certainly has opened eyes, especially from their Monday Night Football performance in the 38-10 crushing of the Dallas Cowboys.

Many could make the argument that despite the good matchup in Arizona, there was a better one between two of the remaining undefeated teams Pittsburgh Steelers and Tennessee Titans, both 5-0. That should tell you everything you need to know how NBC and the NFL feel about the Cardinals-Seahawks rivalry.

The last time the two tangled on Sunday Night Football was in 2016 when the two teams played their way to a 6-6 tie.  Each team had multiple opportunities to finish out that game.  Let’s hope we don’t see a repeat of that game.

That was ages ago though.  The last time these two teams hooked up was in Seattle last December.  The Cardinals kept the Seahawks from gaining the number one seed in the 2019 NFC Playoffs.

The Seahawks are the other undefeated team remaining at 5-0.  Now it’s time for the Cardinals to shine once again.  A win puts the Cardinals a game and a half behind the Seahawks for the NFC West lead.
