A big division win against the undefeated Seattle Seahawks keep Arizona Cardinals in contention

It would have been a fairly shocking thing to hear two months ago. Seven weeks into the 2020 NFL season the Arizona Cardinals are still in the race for the NFC West.

The 5-2 Cardinals are a game behind the Seattle Seahawks who still maintain their lead in what should be the undisputedly toughest division in football after a 37-34 loss in overtime in State Farm Stadium. The heart-pounding win against the Seahawks put Arizona square in the middle of what could be a tight race to the end of the season for NFC West champ.

Not far behind, the Los Angeles Rams also have five wins and remain behind Arizona due to the Cardinals’ two division wins. The San Francisco 49ers have had an up-and-down season but a blowout victory against New England have them at 4-3 and still a potential contender in this remarkably tough division.

All four teams have exhibited some spectacular strengths and concerning weaknesses. Let’s take a look around the NFC West before Week 8 to see where it all sits.
