Michael Bidwill on Thursday was on the Arizona Sports’ Doug & Wolf show. During his segment with them, he was asked about the future of general manager Steve Keim and head coach Kliff Kingsbury’s job security. Both Keim and Kingsbury have been hot topics that have been debated amongst fans of who should go, with some fans even saying that both should have been fired based on the collapse that happened after starting 6-3, but finishing 8-8 and missing the playoffs.

However, Michael Bidwill is keeping a more optimistic approach than some.

"There’s going to be a seismic shift here. We’re already starting to see it in 2021 with veterans that are going to be cut around the league,” Bidwill said. “When you think about what’s going to happen moving forward, we’re going to be able to improve this team. There’s gonna be other teams moving around because they’re going to lose talent. I’m very bullish for 2021 for both Kliff and for Steve”-Michael Bidwill, Owner, Arizona Cardinals"

This shows that Bidwill understands how competitive the NFC West is and he recognizes the urgency of which becoming a contender truly is. For those who are pro-Keim/Kingsbury, this is great news. Usually year 3 of a regime dictates the future for a coach (or a player), and with the team not having a winning record since the 2015 season, the pressure is on all three of them to get this right.

This “calm the waters statement” also comes after an extremely delayed message to the fans in which Michael Bidwill addressed how the season went, citing the “Hail Murray” and then the bitter end to the season. If these two things are anything close to a “promise” of better days, we only have to hope for it. The offseason being as normal as possible is crucial to taking the next step as a team.

We’ve got a long way to go until the team gets to suit up. Let’s see how the future looks after the draft.
