NFL free agency and the new league year is almost upon the Arizona Cardinals

While we’re still in that awkward area between the Super Bowl and the beginning of the new league year, it’s always fun to predict where our favorite teams will spend their money during the free-agent frenzy, including the Arizona Cardinals.

And while Rodger Goodell may claim the NFL season begins in late-April during the draft, he’s wrong. The NFL season begins the second the frenzy begins. And when the frenzy begins, the Arizona Cardinals will compete with 31 other teams for the services of some high-profile players, targeting key positions of need.

So which positions should the Cardinals upgrade in free agency? Positions of need, obviously, but lesser need. Positions where a solid contributor can come in and bring it up to par. That said, you won’t see wide receiver, corner, or right tackle on today’s list. Positions of major need, where the Cardinals lack serious depth or even a solid starter.

In today’s post, you’ll instead find positions that can use a veteran’s presence, or a solid upgrade from last season’s starter. The next three sections will reveal which positions the Cardinals should target in free agency. And why a veteran presence can provide an immediate upgrade for the foreseeable future.
