John Brown and Walt Powell

Having missed out on Swope, Keim took another chance with a speedster, this one from Pittsburg State. And while Brown didn’t possess Swope’s size, his 4.34 time in the 40-yard-dash coaxed him into taking Brown.

And Brown didn’t disappoint. He was never a top receiver in the league, but he produced well enough to become a solid role player, logging 17 total receiving touchdowns during his time as a Cardinal. He also eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards in 2015.

Powell was another late-round pick who also attended the small school of Murray State. He never played a regular-season down for the Cardinals and spent time with several franchises until 2017. He logged 14 receptions and 142 receiving yards during his career.

Grade: C+ – Brown became a fixture during the Cardinals’ playoff run in 2015 while Powell went to the wayside. Brown has also since become an NFL journeyman.
