Number 7 in the top 10 Arizona Cardinals draft picks from the last decade: Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame

Michael Floyd slides into seventh in the top 10 Arizona Cardinals draft picks from the last decade. Coming out of Notre Dame and being selected with the teams’ first overall pick at 13th overall in 2012.  Floyd had a decent rookie year but came on strong in 2013 with 65 catches for 1,041 yards and 5 touchdowns.  Floyd stepped up big whenever the team went on the road against Seattle, including some phenomenal TD grabs along the sideline.

Now the reason why he is ranked above John Brown is that he had a little more consistency and made catches in big games (multiple times vs Seattle, and the ricochet catch against Green Bay in the Divisional round). His performance dropped in the 2016 season, and then was arrested for a DUI and being asleep at the wheel. He then spent time with New England where he laid one of the dirtiest blocks in NFL history while playing Miami and later won a title. He then changed his Twitter bio to “Champion” which really P.O’d a lot of Cardinals fans.

I had even forgotten about this for some time, but the sting is still there. A lot of ex-Cardinals just always seem to win titles, and it’s been something that has almost defined the franchise. We’re so over it and maybe that’s the reason for the hate on Floyd. To end his career, Floyd would make stops in Minnesota and Washington and even signed with the New Orleans Saints in 2019 for minicamp, but ultimately did not make the roster.

Let’s just remember the catches against the Seahawks and forget the whole championship thing and move on to #6 in our top 10 Arizona Cardinals draft picks from the last decade.
