Number 4 in the top 10 Arizona Cardinals draft picks from the last decade: D.J. Humphries, LT, Florida

In back-to-back spots, just like the 2015 draft went for Arizona, D.J. Humphries lands at number four. Steve Keim picked Humphries in the 1st round that year, and it sure took some time for the big man to get established in the NFL. It’s been a long time since the team has had a franchise left tackle that spent most of his time with the Cardinals (sorry not sorry, Jared Veldheer). I think it’s safe to say that Humphries is the best left tackle since Dan Dierdorf back in the 1970s played.

In his five years, Humphries has only given up 18 sacks. Now that’s an average of 3 per year, but half of those came in 2017 alone and his numbers since have gotten better. PFF rated him as the 4th-best left tackle in the league this past year as well. He’s stayed healthy for quite some time now, and this team wouldn’t be a playoff contender without his sturdiness at the position. Usually there is more of a stats breakdown, but PFF has them available for purchase.

Humphries is Easily the best at the position since I’ve been a fan in 2004. Let’s hope he’s a Cardinal for life.
