Cardinals not among the favorites to land Julio Jones

As trade rumors continue to swirl, the Arizona Cardinals are reportedly not among the teams in the lead to acquire current Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones.

During the last week, speculation about the Arizona Cardinals possibly being a team who could acquire Julio Jones in a trade with the Atlanta Falcons certainly picked up.

The Cardinals have been included in the discussion of possible landing spots for Jones, but there haven’t really been any reports of them having any actual interest in trading for the All-Pro wide receiver.

As of Sunday, the teams that appear to be the front-runners to land Jones includes the Tennessee Titans, San Francisco 49ers, Baltimore Ravens, and New England Patriots, according to multiple reports.

Arizona Cardinals rival also in the mix to acquire Atlanta Falcons receiver Julio Jones

In addition to Arizona not being among the favorites to acquire Jones in a trade, a report from ESPN’s Diana Russini came out on Sunday that the Seattle Seahawks have “had discussions,” with the Falcons about a possible deal for the talented wide receiver.

So not only is Jones not expected to wind up with the Cardinals this year, he could potentially land with one of their two biggest rivals, the 49ers or Seahawks.

Judging by all of the most recent reports, it sounds like Arizona is going to roll into the 2021 season with their current group of receivers that includes DeAndre Hopkins, A.J. Green, Andy Isabella, Rondale Moore, and Christian Kirk.

The Cardinals still have a very talented receiving corps this year. But adding Jones would’ve quickly vaulted the group into being the absolute best in the NFL.

Now that it seems to be pretty clear that Jones won’t be suiting up for Arizona next season, the next best thing Cardinals fans can hope for is for him to land with a team that is not a member of the NFC West.
