Trey Burton – TE

2020 TeamIndianapolis Colts

No matter what he does during the rest of his NFL career, free-agent tight end Trey Burton will forever be known as the guy who threw the pass during the “Philly Special” play-call for the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 52.

At the same time though, this play is evidence of how a creative offensive mind could utilize the skill-set of Burton to benefit their team.

Since that championship 2017 season with the Eagles, Burton has spent the last three years as a member of the Chicago Bears (2018 and 2019) and Indianapolis Colts (2020).

With the Colts last season, the 29-year-old tight end was on the field for 34 percent of the team’s offensive snaps and he finished the campaign with 28 catches for 250 yards and three touchdowns.

The Cardinals’ current group of tight ends is not exactly oozing with talent, so someone like Burton is totally capable of earning a spot at the top of the team’s tight end depth chart.
