5 former Arizona Cardinals players that remain unemployed
By Jim Koch
Corey Peters – DT
When healthy, Corey Peters has been a valuable presence both on and off of the field for the Cards since 2015. Unfortunately, a torn Achilles tendon sidelined him for his entire first campaign in the desert. Peters also missed four matchups in 2017 due to an ankle injury.
The Cardinals seemed to be looking towards the future when they selected two defensive tackles, Leki Fotu and Rashard Lawrence, during the fourth round of the 2020 draft. Seven months later, Peters suffered a torn patellar tendon which cost the 6-foot-3, 335-pounder the final seven contests of last year’s schedule.
Though Arizona has stated that they’d like to re-sign Peters, there is little reason to believe that will happen. A 33-year-old who is coming off of another major setback is far from an attractive option. If Peters does play again, it most likely won’t be with the Cards.
