Which Arizona Cardinals players ended up with some of the best ratings in “Madden 22”?

DeAndre Hopkins (98), J.J. Watt (94), Chandler Jones (94), and Budda Baker (93) are the only Arizona Cardinals players with overall ratings above 90 in “Madden 22”.

Ratings for the top 10 players at each position were released by EA Sports over the last two weeks, and fans were in an uproar about some players either being too high or too low for the second straight year.

While the Cardinals have four players above 90, fans expected some of the other team’s top guys to be ranked higher.

Top “Madden 22” ratings feature several members of the Arizona Cardinals

DeAndre Hopkins – WR

In his first year with the Cardinals, Hopkins broke the franchise record in receptions with 115, and ended with 1,407 receiving yards, which was the most since Larry Fitzgerald (1,431) in 2008.

In “Madden 21”, Hopkins was rated a 98 overall, but increased to 99 later during the season. The only person rated above Hopkins in “Madden 22” is Green Bay Packers receiver Davante Adams, who only finished with more touchdowns than Hopkins last season.

J.J. Watt – DL

Watt signed with Arizona in March and is expected to have a resurgence in the desert. In his final season with the Houston Texans, he had his worst production in a 16-game season, finishing with five sacks and 52 tackles.

In “Madden 21”, Watt was rated at 98 despite playing just eight games with Houston the season prior. Still being one of the best pass-rushers in the game, it comes as a surprise that his overall is in the 90s, despite the lack of production in the last two seasons.

Chandler Jones – LB

Although Jones might not be a Cardinal for much longer after requesting a trade earlier this year, his 94 overall comes as another surprise despite only playing five games last season due to a bicep injury, finishing with one sack and 11 tackles.

Jones dropped one overall point since “Madden 21” after having a career year that saw him finish with 19 sacks in the 2019 season.

Budda Baker – S

Baker had one of his best seasons in 2020 after recording his first (and second) career interception, and finishing with 118 tackles and two sacks, earning him Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors for the first time since 2017 when he received these honors as a special teams player.

Baker’s 93 overall increased from an 86 overall in “Madden 21”, making him the second-highest rated safety in the game behind former Cardinal Tyrann Mathieu (95).

Kyler Murray – QB

Murray was rated as an 82 overall in this year’s Madden, increasing from a 77 overall in the previous game, where he was disrespected then too.

After coming off a career-high in passing yards (3,971), rushing yards (819) and passing touchdowns (26), and also being the only quarterback in NFL history to rush and throw for a touchdown nine times in a season, Murray did not even crack the top 10 among highest-rated quarterbacks in the game.

Both Matt Ryan and Ryan Tannehill (85), however, surpassed Murray, which is where most are confused. Neither player had the impact on their respective teams as Murray did, and neither players have better numbers in the video game than Murray does either.
