Due to the threat of a hurricane, Saturday’s preseason matchup between the Arizona Cardinals and New Orleans Saints has been cancelled.
There is no longer a need to worry about the chance of any notable Arizona Cardinals players suffering an injury in the team’s final 2021 preseason game on Saturday against the New Orleans Saints.
This is because there isn’t going to be a meeting between the Cardinals and Saints this weekend anymore.
The threat of Hurricane Ida in New Orleans has forced the NFL to cancel Saturday’s exhibition contest and both teams won’t take the field again until the opening week of the 2021 regular season.
Arizona Cardinals preseason comes to an end after only two games
Originally, the preseason game between Arizona and New Orleans was going to take place at 5 p.m. MST. With the threat of the hurricane growing on Friday, the start of the matchup was changed to 10 a.m. MST, and then a few hours later, the game was just completely cancelled.
It was a decision that needed to be made as it sounds like this hurricane is possibly going to cause a major amount of damage. To remain safe, the Saints actually evacuated New Orleans and they will be staying in Dallas, Texas until next Wednesday.
As for the Cardinals, they were actually up in an airplane when the news of the cancellation was announced. So the plane had to obviously turn around and they headed back to Arizona.
With no game on Saturday now, the Cardinals will finish the 2021 preseason with a 1-1 record. There are plenty of positive takeaways to have from Arizona’s two exhibition matchups this year, but the most important is that none of their top players went down with any major injuries.
The Cardinals will head into their 2021 regular-season opener against the Tennessee Titans with a roster that is likely a lot healthier than the team thought it would be following training camp and the preseason.
