The Arizona Cardinals return home in Week 5 to face the San Francisco 49ers

Injuries have piled up for both the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers this week. The Cardinals will face rookie Trey Lance at quarterback. However, on their side of the ball, they may be without playmakers Byron Murphy and Chase Edmonds, plus a rising cornerback in Marco Wilson.

However, the Cardinals have enough depth to counter the 49ers. James Conner has run the ball well in plenty of short-yardage situations, as his four touchdowns in two weeks have shown. If Edmonds can’t go, the Cardinals could have preseason star Eno Benjamin active this week. They also have Jonathan Ward to split the carries if Edmonds can’t go.

And if Murphy and Wilson cannot go on defense, look for Robert Alford to step up and provide a strong, veteran presence in the secondary. And as is becoming the norm, look for the Cardinals’ offense to click against one of the league’s best defenses.

Let’s discuss the Alford situation and more in the following slides with these three bold predictions.
