Three-time Pro Bowler, Zach Ertz, will provide the Arizona Cardinals offensive unit with a bona fide threat at the tight end position.

Three days ago, the Arizona Cardinals announced that the knee injury that Maxx Williams suffered last Sunday will sideline the veteran for the remainder of the season. Two days later, Arizona’s front office replaced the starting tight end with the best player they’ve had at the position in a very long time.

Cards general manager Steve Keim pulled off yet another outstanding trade on Friday, acquiring three-time Pro Bowler Zach Ertz from the Philadelphia Eagles. All throughout the offseason, many of the team’s fans voiced their displeasure with the Cardinals’ unimpressive tight end situation. With Ertz, the franchise will be welcoming to the desert an individual who’s been both productive and respected since he entered the NFL back in 2013.

Arizona is certainly in unfamiliar territory with a tight end of Ertz’s caliber on the roster. The 30-year old will bring talent, leadership, and an undeniable work ethic to a Cards offense that is already operating at an extremely high level.

Zach Ertz will be a fantastic fit in the Arizona Cardinals locker room

Ertz is the type of professional who will be welcomed by his fellow Cardinals in the locker room and adored by those in the “Red Sea”. A report that surfaced on Saturday is a prime example of how dedicated the 6-foot-5, 250-pounder is to his craft.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Ertz was given the option by the Redbirds to remain in Philadelphia for the weekend. Instead, the former Stanford University product insisted on flying right out to Arizona and then proceeded to travel to Cleveland with his new teammates and coaches. The idea is that Ertz can get a head start on learning the new playbook, an action that clearly shows the commitment he has towards his job.

Those who follow the Eagles were distraught by the news that the immensely popular Ertz was leaving town. But at the same time, a large number of the Philly fans are glad that such a classy guy is going to a club that is a legitimate Super Bowl contender.

The deal for Ertz is further proof that the Cards are all-in in 2021. An Arizona scoring attack that was one of pro football’s best before the deal has become even better. Kudos to Keim and his cohorts for bringing in the most prolific tight end the team has employed in years.
