Isaiah Spiller – RB (Texas A&M)

Drafting a running back in the first round is something that has become frowned upon during the last few years. There have only been seven running backs selected in the first round since 2018 and only one of them (Saquon Barkley) was a top-10 pick.

The rest were selected at pick No. 24 or later, which is right around where the Cardinals are probably going to be making their first selection of the 2022 draft.

Arizona’s rushing attack has performed well so far this season. The combination of James Conner and Chase Edmonds has the Cardinals with the eighth-best rushing offense in the NFL after the first eight weeks of the year.

However, both Edmonds and Conner are scheduled to become free agents in 2022. It’s unlikely that both of them will re-sign with Arizona and Eno Benjamin is the only running back that will still be under contract with the team after this season.

It might be wise for the Cardinals to consider investing their first-round pick in 2022 on Texas A&M running back Isaiah Spiller.

During the last three years Spiller has scored a total of 25 touchdowns and averaged six yards per touch. He can run over defenders or he can juke them out of their shoes.

At 6-foot-1 and 215 pounds, he’s got a mold similar someone like Conner, so if the current Arizona running back signs elsewhere in 2022, going after Spiller might be a great way for the Cardinals to continue achieving success on the ground next season.
