5 first-round targets for the Cardinals in the 2022 NFL Draft

Jalen Wydermyer – TE (Texas A&M)
Cardinals and tight ends go together like mayonnaise and ice cream. It’s just been so long since Arizona had a tight end worth bragging about.
Now, the Cardinals did recently acquire Zach Ertz in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles, but he will become a free agent after this season. In fact, Arizona currently has no tight ends on their roster with a contract that runs through 2022.
The Cardinals can potentially solve this problem next year by drafting the talented Texas A&M tight end, Jalen Wydermyer.
At 6-foot-5 and 255 pounds, Wydermyer is big target that would be great for Arizona’s offense to have inside the red zone. He’s more than just a jump-ball type of tight end though too. Wydermyer has shown the ability to break tackles and rack up some additional yards after he gets the ball in his hands.
He doesn’t have breakaway speed or the ability to run routes like a receiver, but Wydermyer knows how to use his size to his advantage, and it probably wouldn’t take very long for him to become a favorite target of Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray.
