After an impressive performance against the Seattle Seahawks, Arizona Cardinals pass rusher Chandler Jones was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week.

When the 2021 season kicked off, Arizona Cardinals linebacker Chandler Jones easily had the best Week 1 performance by any defensive player in the NFL when he racked up five sacks in the team’s win over the Tennessee Titans. After this game, Jones wound up being named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week.

Since Week 1, the production of the Arizona pass rusher definitely hasn’t been as dominant. However, Jones stepped up last Sunday during the Cardinals’ matchup against the Seattle Seahawks and finished with four tackles (two for a loss) and two sacks.

Thanks to his efforts out on the field in Seattle, Jones has been awarded the NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season.

Jones has been going up against the Seahawks two times per year for the last few seasons and he’s caused tons of trouble for Arizona’s NFC West rival in these matchups.

Last week was no different as Jones also generated three pressures in addition to bringing down Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson down to the ground twice.

With his latest NFC Defensive Player of the Week nod, the Cardinals pass rusher has now earned the honor five times in his NFL career.

In the final year of his current contract with Arizona, Jones is making it hard for the Cardinals to decide whether they should re-sign him in 2022 or not. In nine games this season, the veteran linebacker has 19 tackles (eight for a loss), 23 pressures, 20 quarterback hits, eight sacks, and three forced fumbles.

Arizona might not think Jones is worth the kind of money he will likely be looking for next year, but some team in the NFL is probably going to hand over a significant amount of cash to the Cardinals pass rusher in 2022.
