10 greatest moments in the Cardinals career of Larry Fitzgerald
3. Fitzgerald’s 2015 season
To say this was unexpected would be an understatement. After mentioning how Arians moved him to the slot earlier in this countdown, the jump from 2014 to 2015 for Larry Fitzgerald was incredible. Fitz went from 63/784/2 all the way up to 109/1,215/9. It was his first 1,000-yard season since 2011 and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
The team started hot and wound up staying hot, going 13-3 in that season, winning the NFC West for the first time since 2009, and earning the franchises’ first-ever first-round bye. As much as Fitzgerald initially didn’t like his new role, Arians knew how to get the best out of him. Carson Palmer knew how to get the ball to Fitzgerald and it showed.
Palmer also almost got three receivers over 1,000 yards that year, with Michael Floyd falling short. No team has done that since the 2009 Cardinals when Boldin, Fitzgerald, and Steve Breaston did it.
There is more to his 2015 season that we’ll talk about. Trust me, we’re almost there. This next moment is sure to cause some debate on its ranking.
