3 Bold Predictions: Arizona Cardinals vs. Chicago Bears – Week 13
By Sion Fawkes
Conner inches closer to a contract extension
While the Chicago Bears have a respectable run defense, James Conner is looking for an extension that will keep him in the desert beyond 2021. And after racking up 13 total touchdowns in 11 games, Conner may very well be on his way to a new deal.
He’s only averaged 3.8 yards per carry so far in 2021, which is meager. However, he carved out a niche with the Cardinals, hence his number of scores. Look for Conner to back up his desire on Sunday with his first 100-yard game of the season.
He came close against the San Francisco 49ers earlier in the year, logging 96 yards on 21 carries. But in Week 13, not only will Conner break the 100-yard mark; he will add two more touchdowns to his 2021 campaign.
Conner has also carried the ball at least 20 times in two of the three games Colt McCoy started in place of Kyler Murray. If McCoy again gets the nod, the offense will run through Conner. Even if Murray gets it, look for him to turn to Conner often in his first game back after a four-week layoff.
