Prater rebounds

For the second season in a row, Matt Prater is converting under 80 percent of his field goals. But it’s tough to blame Prater for last week’s loss, even if the points he left on the field made a difference in the outcome. Instead, Prater’s spotty performance that included a missed extra point and two missed field goals can be attributed to the fact he did not have his regular holder in Andy Lee.

You especially couldn’t blame Prater for missing his first field goal; that one’s on then-holder Colt McCoy, who did not spin the laces of the ball forward. The Cardinals pulled McCoy and went with Ryan Winslow later in the contest, which resulted in another miss from Prater.

This week, Prater fixes his kicking issues. And while it may or may not make a difference in the outcome of Sunday’s contest, don’t expect Prater to leave any points on the field this time around. Prater will rebound by converting all of his kicks.
