Analyzing the Arizona Cardinals 2021 draft class after year one

James Wiggins – S
The Cardinals also drafted Michael Menet, but like Gowan, he’s long gone from the Cardinals. Like Dimukeje, Wiggins played in a cameo role this season with the Cardinals, appearing in three games and 49% of the team’s special teams snaps.
Right now, Wiggins, listed as a safety, figures to be a backup heading into Year 2 with Budda Baker and Jalen Thompson (both of which are arguably Keim’s best draft picks) forming a dynamic duo at the safety positon. Wiggins is one of those long-term, developmental prospects who may become a starter in this league should Baker or Thompson continue their career elsewhere in time.
Given Baker’s and Thompson’s talent, the best place for Wiggins is on the sideline to watch and absorb two of the NFL’s best safeties in action. And that observing may turn the seventh-round pick into a long-term starter somewhere in the league, whether or not it’s in the desert.
