15 all-time greatest draft picks in Arizona Cardinals history
The 4th-best Arizona Cardinals draft pick ever: Aeneas Williams
Before talking about Aeneas Williams, let’s just admire those uniforms. Those are the most classic look of all time for the Cards. Anyways, Williams came to the then Phoenix Cardinals in 1991 as a third-round pick out of Southern University.
Williams burst onto the scene as a rookie and had six interceptions, and finished third in DROY voting. Williams then turned it up a notch in 1994, grabbing a career-high nine picks and making the Pro Bowl four times (’94 to 1998).
Williams also is tied with the Raiders’ Jack Tatum for the longest fumble return touchdown in NFL history, with a 104-yard scamper against Washington in 2000. This is what helped keep the Cardinals in Arizona, and a brand new stadium was built.
Williams is second on the career interceptions list behind Larry Wilson, and even though he ended up playing for the division rival Rams, he is still one of the most beloved Cardinals of all time.
Williams’ significance to keeping the Cardinals in Arizona is why he’s up so high on this list (Shout out to Ronnie McKinnon and Mark Maddox for forcing the fumble)
Williams is 54 years old and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2014. A member of the NFL’s All 1990s team, he earned eight Pro Bowl selections and three All-Pro nods.
