3 reasons the Arizona Cardinals should pass on Roquan Smith
The Arizona Cardinals wouldn’t pay Roquan Smith what he wants.
It may be Steve Keim’s M.O. to acquire Smith and get him on the team and go play football. But would Michael Bidwill, a descendant of one of the more notoriously cheap families in the NFL, want to do the same?
There are countless examples of Michael Bidwill’s father (Bill) shortchanging and lowballing player after player. While Michael has been better than his late father, we all remember what happened with Calais Campbell, Tyrann Mathieu, Tony Jefferson, and whoever else you want to include on that list.
Bidwill and Keim would have to break the bank on Smith, which would have to most likely be in guaranteed money as Bears GM Ryan Poles didn’t offer enough of it to be taken seriously. I don’t see the Cardinals investing in another new linebacker when they’re tied to Isaiah Simmons and Collins for a few more years.
May Smith succeed wherever he goes, and may he get the money he deserves. I don’t think it would be here in the desert.
