First loser of the Arizona Cardinals: K Matt Prater

Matt Prater historically has been one of the better kickers in the league. Yes, it’s the preseason and everyone is a little bit rusty. However when Prater missed two extra points in the game last night, it may be cause for concern.

Mark this as a potential overreaction and just an off night, but it’s not like this hasn’t happened from Prater before. The game against the Indianapolis Colts last Christmas saw him miss chip shots.

This is similar to how the Green Bay Packers’ special teams issues started last season. They began in the preseason and stealthily became an issue throughout the course of the 2021 season, and we all knew how that ended up.

There’s plenty of time for Prater to get his game right, and I am confident that he will. But it’s definitely something to keep an eye on.
