Arizona Cardinals have the most stable QB situation in the NFC West

Seattle Seahawks- Geno Smith/Drew Lock
The Seattle Seahawks find themselves in the unenviable position of having either Geno Smith or Drew Lock leading the organization’s offense this season. Back in March, longtime starter Russell Wilson was traded to the Denver Broncos in a deal that brought smiles to Arizona’s fanbase.
The 33-year old Wilson had been a thorn in the side of the Cards since he entered the league back in 2012. It looks like Smith, Seattle’s second-string quarterback since ’19, is the favorite to secure the starting gig.
The good news for the Cardinals? The 31-year old journeyman has been pretty close to awful since he was drafted by the New York Jets back in 2013. Lock, a 25-year old who was acquired in the trade for Wilson, was mediocre at best in the 21 career starts he made for Denver.
The Arizona defense has to be licking it’s chops at the thought of facing either Smith or Lock (or both) when the division rivals meet in ’22. By employing such an unimpressive pair of signal-callers, the Seahawks are basically conceding the upcoming campaign.
Whether they’re facing Smith or Lock, there’s a good possibility that “Big Red” can look forward to the franchise’s first two-game sweep of their division foe since 2009.
