The Arizona Cardinals first win versus the Chiefs came in 2001

It was played at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona, before a small crowd of almost 36,000 fans on October 21, 2001. The first half of the game started off like the first meeting between the two teams.

It was a field goal affair with the Chiefs leading at halftime 9-3. In the 3rd quarter, Cardinals Coach Dave McGinnis went to running back Michael Pittman. He gave the Chiefs a heavy dose of running plays on the first drive of the quarter.

Ultimately, Pittman scored on a 24-yard run as the Cardinals took a 10-9 lead. Coach Dick Vermeil had quarterback Trent Green attempt to counter the Cardinals, but the Chiefs went three and out. The quick exit  had the Chiefs showing time of possession for the entire 3rd quarter at just over one minute. But things were about to get worse going into the 4th quarter.

Arizona came back and won 24-16 in a 4th quarter comeback. QB Jake Plummer and WR David Boston were the stars of the game. The two combined for seven receptions for 131 yards and one touchdown.
