Arizona Cardinals best games vs the Kansas City Chiefs
The Arizona Cardinals last victory over Kansas City came during the 2014 season
Chief’s QB Alex Smith was sacked five times and threw one interception as the Cardinals defense harassed Smith all game long. Drew Stanton started that game and threw a 26-yd touchdown pass to Jaron Brown. That touchdown was enough to earn a 17-14 Arizona Cardinals victory.
On September 11th, 2022, the Arizona Cardinals play host to the Kansas City Chiefs as head coach Andy Reid begins his 24th season with 233 career wins. Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury enters his 4th season with 24 career wins. The game is one of Reid’s experience vs innovative offense of Kliff Kingsbury.
The Chiefs hold the edge in the all-time series. 9-3-1
Patrick Mahomes has new addition in JuJu Smith-Schuster at wideout. For the first time, Kyler Murray will get plenty of deep balls to his Oklahoma college teammate WR Marquis “Hollywood” Brown. But it may be the running game that decides the outcome of this contest. Kansas City’s Clyde Edwards-Helaire and the Cardinals James Conner will get a lot of touches vs each one’s opposing lines.
The Chiefs offensive line will be a test for the Cardinals on defense as well. PFF projects the Kansas City line to be ranked 8th in 2022. While the Cardinals defensive line is near the bottom with a PFF score of 27th in the league. On the other side, the Cardinals offensive line is ranked 26th. The Kansas City Chiefs defensive line comes in at 25th in the 2022 projections.
Sunday’s game has the makings of a wide open contest between two teams with explosive offenses. If the Cardinals are to pull out a victory, they will need to contain Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs running game. A win at home against the Chiefs could set the table for a return to the playoffs and a much deeper run in 2022 for the Arizona Cardinals.
