Chiefs vs Cardinals Prediction and Pick
James Conner Any Time Touchdown (-105)
After signing a three-year, $21 million extension in the offseason, Conner enters 2022 as the unquestioned feature-back of the Cardinals’ offense. He was incredible last season, scoring 18 total touchdowns. With Chase Edmonds gone to Miami, I’m banking on Conner to carry his stellar production into the new season.
Kansas City’s run defense has long been an issue. The Chiefs allowed 4.8 yards per carry in 2021, the second-most in the NFL, and their offseason adjustments were centered more around improving the pass defense than stopping the run.
Conner scored at least one touchdown in each of Arizona’s final seven home games last year. With a high total on the board, I love his chances to get in the end zone once again this week.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire Any Time Touchdown Scorer (+130)
If you’re looking to back a Chief to score, Edwards-Helaire is my target. We’re getting a value on his props this season due to a disappointing, injury-riddled last couple of seasons, but I think Kansas City will get him involved early and often on Sunday.
The Cardinals’ rush defense struggled last year as well, and the Chiefs are likely to generate plenty of scoring opportunities.
