Wideout Greg Dortch has been the most consistent offensive contributor for the Arizona Cardinals over the first two weeks

Following a first half against the Las Vegas Raiders in which they generated zero points, the Arizona Cardinals were in dire need of a spark. Roughly four minutes into the third quarter of the Cards’ 29-23 overtime win, the offense got exactly what they needed from the most unlikeliest of sources.

When Arizona superstar Kyler Murray hit wide receiver Greg Dortch for a 29-yard gain on the second half’s second drive, the team suddenly had life. While Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, Zach Ertz and A.J. Green are the squad’s marquee pass-catchers at the moment, it took an unsung hero like Dortch to get the Redbirds on track.

Ten plays after that badly-needed reception, Dortch scored the Cardinals’ first points of the afternoon. Murray and the undrafted free agent out of Wake Forest connected on a five-yard scoring play, setting the stage for one of the greatest comebacks in franchise history.

Greg Dortch continues to prove his value to the Arizona Cardinals offense

One of these Sundays, Cards fans are going to stop being surprised by what Dortch brings to the table. With the way that the 24-year old is contributing, second-year player Rondale Moore can take all of the time he needs to get healthy.

What Dortch has accomplished over the past couple of weeks is merely a carryover from his superb play in the preseason. Despite his slight size, the 5 foot 7, 175 pounder simply made it impossible for the front office to hand him his walking papers when final cuts were made.

Dortch was also one of the lone bright spots last weekend when Arizona was blown out by the Kansas City Chiefs. The Virginia native led all “Big Red” receivers with seven catches for 63 yards during the ugly defeat. On Sunday, Dortch hauled in four passes for 55 yards, a stat line that included the first score of his NFL career.

As incredible as it may seem, the young wideout has transformed himself into a vital part of the “Air Raid” scoring attack. Dortch is certainly an added bonus to what was already an extremely stacked Cardinals receiving corps.
