Arizona Cardinals facing a must-win situation this coming weekend
By Jim Koch
The Arizona Cardinals would put themselves in a tough spot this coming Sunday if they fail to defeat the Carolina Panthers.
Fans of the Arizona Cardinals should not be surprised with the 1-2 record that the squad has compiled through the season’s first three weeks. In fact, a contingent of prognosticators were predicting that the Cards would be winless following tough matchups with the Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Rams.
On that basis, the Redbirds have seemingly placed themselves ahead of the curve heading into a Week 4 clash with the Carolina Panthers. Kliff Kingsbury’s crew did fall to the Chiefs and Rams, but a Week 2 victory over the Raiders prevented them from getting off to an unfavorable 0-3 start.
Despite the fact that we’re just four games into the current campaign, this Sunday’s contest with the Panthers could certainly be viewed as a must-win for Arizona. Some would argue that the team’s situation is far from dire at the present time, but there are reasons why a loss this coming weekend could be flat-out disastrous.
Arizona Cardinals must find a way to emerge victorious this coming Sunday
Very few members of the “Red Sea” believed that Carolina would pose a problem for the Cardinals. The club will tangle with much tougher opponents in the coming months, so a setback against the mediocre Panthers would qualify as a blown opportunity to record an easy win.
Another reason why it would behoove the Cards to emerge victorious in Carolina is the fact that the red-hot Philadelphia Eagles will invade State Farm Stadium in Week 5. Philly is the league’s only remaining undefeated team, and could very well stay that way after this week’s home-date with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Arizona needs to play up to their potential, and beat the pants off of the less-than-imposing Panthers. Doom and gloom could be just around the corner if they don’t.
