Arizona Cardinals vs. Vikings: Prediction and Odds for Week 8
By Sion Fawkes
The Arizona Cardinals head into Week 8 looking to string together back-to-back wins for the first time in nearly a year. Can they pull it off this Sunday?
The Arizona Cardinals may have scored a convincing win against the New Orleans Saints last Thursday night, but they face a tougher task this Sunday when they head to Minneapolis to face the Vikings. And while the Vikings are 5-1 on the season, the Cardinals looked like a different team with DeAndre Hopkins back in the lineup.
So will it be enough to overcome one of the NFC’s best teams? Let’s check out the odds before I make my prediction.
Arizona Cardinals vs. Vikings Odds – Week 8
Per Fan Duel, the Arizona Cardinals are +3.5 point underdogs to the Vikings as of Tuesday, October 25th on the road. Their current over/under sits at 48.5, and the Cardinals hold a (+160) moneyline. The moneyline for the Vikings is (-190).
Arizona Cardinals vs. Vikings Prediction – Week 8
The Cardinals offense came to life against the Saints last week, and they are now facing a team in the Vikings that has allowed 6.0 yards per play this season. Not a good combination with DeAndre Hopkins on the field, given his performance and the Cardinals turnaround last Thursday.
Arizona’s defense didn’t look as hot, giving up their highest number of points, 34, since Week 1 when they allowed 44 to the Kansas City Chiefs. However, 10 of those 34 points came in garbage time when they backed off into prevent defense, and the same defense helped their team win in Week 7 with two pick sixes.
Since the Cardinals offense should continue to click as long as Hopkins stays in the lineup, combined with the Vikings league-worst 7.3 net yards allowed per pass attempt, I will go out on a limb this week and project the Cardinals to pull off the upset, 28-24, with the defense holding off a last-minute surge from a very capable Vikings offense.
