Bold Prediction: Arizona Cardinals will lose their next 3 games
By Sion Fawkes
It’s the time of year where if you’re a fan of the Arizona Cardinals, you should be at crossroads. Losing is never fun, but it may be a necessary evil.
The last thing a true sports fan wants to see is their team to lose, lose, and lose again. And because of obvious biases, those of us who follow our favorite teams will look for every excuse in the book to predict our team to win.
And I am sure it is something we have all done this season regarding the Arizona Cardinals. I know I did earlier in the year (see above link), even if I had a pretty good idea of what was coming. At the beginning of 2022, I also predicted the Cardinals to sneak into the playoffs with either a 10-7 or 11-6 record.
Less than two months later, and three months after their first preseason game, I’m predicting three straight losses for this 3-6 franchise. Not only am I predicting the losses; I’m also jumping through hoops to find excuses to predict the team to lose.
Because if the losses mean a 3-9 record and a red-hot seat for head coach Kliff Kingsbury and general manager Steve Keim, so be it. Not that I’m hoping for a tank job, but it has become clear this Arizona Cardinals team is going nowhere.
Arizona Cardinals could easily lose their next three games
I wouldn’t make a bold prediction here without at least some possibility of the outcome actually occurring, and that’s the case here. Over their next three games, the Cardinals will play the Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers, and Los Angeles Chargers, three tough opponents that can easily result in three more L’s.
During the Kliff Kingsbury era, the Cardinals have struggled with the Rams, so I’m chalking this one up as a surefire loss. The 49ers are 4-4, but their roster and team chemistry has, on multiple occasions, proven to be far stronger than Arizona’s.
The Chargers, on the other hand, are going through the same torment as the Cardinals; a team with a lot of talent but for some odd reason, has underachieved statistically. Despite their underachievement, the Chargers are 5-3 and in the thick of the AFC playoff race. Their offense is stagnant and their defense can be leaky, but they find ways to win.
That said, I’m seeing three straight L’s as the Cardinals limp into their Week 13 bye week at 3-9. While it would be an opportune time to fire Kingsbury then, it is more realistic to believe Michael Bidwill gives the head coach the final five games to redeem himself.
