4 Veteran Arizona Cardinals who aren’t likely to return in 2023
By Jim Koch
There are several Arizona Cardinals who will more than likely move on from the franchise when the 2023 offseason rolls around.
Arizona Cardinals fans were hoping for the best back in September when the team embarked on the current campaign. The season is far from over of course, but things are looking fairly grim for a Cards squad that has won just three times in nine tries.
Despite the fact that there are eight games left to be played, it’s not too early for Arizona to start looking ahead. In just three months, the club will be smack dab in the middle of what is shaping up to be yet another crucial offseason for the snakebitten franchise.
Rest assured, Cardinals general manager Steve Keim is already beginning to think about what next year’s roster should look like. The following are four veteran players who could very well move on from the organization in 2023.
Arizona Cardinals not likely to return: Veteran #1: Rodney Hudson – Center
Three-time Pro Bowl center Rodney Hudson may have already played in his final game for the Cards. An injured knee has kept the 33-year old from suiting up in four consecutive contests, and there’s very little optimism that Hudson will return to the lineup anytime soon.
Hudson kept the Redbirds guessing throughout most of the offseason about whether he wanted to continue playing or not. In retrospect, the team may have been better off without the former Florida State University product.
At the moment, Hudson is doing nothing but stealing money from an Arizona franchise that sent a third-round draft choice to the Las Vegas Raiders to acquire his services in 2021. The 6 foot 2, 315 pounder has been fantastic when healthy, but it’s looking more and more like Keim acquired damaged goods when he orchestrated the trade for the broken-down Hudson.
