Dennis Gardeck – Outside Linebacker

The Cards got all excited back in 2020 when special teams standout Dennis Gardeck totaled seven sacks from the outside linebacker position. A season-ending injury to Jones created a golden opportunity for the 6 foot, 232 pounder, and Gardeck took full advantage.

Keim was obviously expecting more of the same when he signed Gardeck to a three-year, $10 million deal back in March. That’s not a huge contract by any means, but the 28-year-old has contributed just one measly sack from his outside linebacker post.

With a cap hit of almost $2.2 million this season, Arizona has made Gardeck one of the highest-paid special-teams demons in the league. Unfortunately, it’s just not happening on the defensive side of the ball for the 28-year old wedge-buster.
